Below you will find brief descriptions of each Year 1 module. With each module you will find download buttons for detailed leaders guides and note taking participant files to give to your cohort.
Module 1:
The Person & Work
of the Spirit
In Module 1 - The Person & Work of the Spirit, we will unfold the nature, character, and function of the Holy Spirit. We will see the work of the Spirit in the story of the Scriptures and discuss the Spirit’s ongoing work in the lives of believers.

Humility
In Module 2 - Humility, we will discuss how this Christian virtue informs all other virtues. We will look to the Scriptures and the example of Jesus to better understand the nature and practice of humility. We will discuss how the Gospel helps us to rightly practice humility as individuals and leaders.

Friendship in Ministry
In Module 3 - Friendship in Ministry, we will discuss the importance of friendship in the Christian life and especially in ministry leadership. We will look at friendship in the Scriptures and talk about the good gift of friendship.

Module 4:
Craftsmanship in Ministry
(Being a Lifelong Learner)
In Module 4 - Craftsmanship in Ministry, we will introduce the idea that ministry is a craft with techniques, skills, and nuances that need to be learned and honed over a lifetime. We will discuss the goodness of being a lifelong learner and will build on the posture of humility that we discussed in Module 2.

Module 5:
The Importance of
Reading & Writing
In Module 5 - The Importance of Reading & Writing, we will discuss the importance of reading and writing in the task of pastoral ministry. We will seek to understand the connection between reading well, writing well and communicating clearly. We will seek, especially, to develop as readers and communicators of God’s Word.

Hospitality & Mission
In Module 6 - Hospitality and Mission, we will discuss the importance of hospitality in the story of the Scriptures and the call to hospitality in the Christian life. We will try to understand the deep connections between the hospitality of God and the mission of God. We will seek to understand and imitate the hospitality of Jesus.

Module 7:
Mentoring: Intentional,
Inductive, Integrative
In Module 7 - We will study Jesus’s way of mentoring his students. We will see that Jesus invited people to learn from him as they patterned their life after his life as apprentices. Apprentices need more than information or inspiration, they need mentors who will invest in their character, competencies and theological comprehension.

Why Theology Matters
In Module 8 - Why Theology Matters, we will discuss the importance of theology in the Christian life. We will define theology and seek to understand its source, subject, purpose, and practice.

Module 9:
What is the Church?
In Module 9 - What is the Church?, We will look to the Scriptures to see how the church is portrayed. We will seek to understand what God thinks about the church and what the apostles instructed the church to practice. We will discuss the nature, constitutive elements, and fundamental characteristics of the church. We will aim to gain a deeper love for the church and a greater appreciation for the church’s role in God’s mission.
